Corregidor Island

Volumes of articles were written about Corregidor Island, it has played an important role in world history. The island is strategically located in defending the country from foreign envaders because it is the gateway to enter Manila, the heart and the mind of the Country.

I had visited the place twice. It is similar to other smaller islands you can see around the country except for the big guns, the ruins which was originally built in the event of war, so as  museum and other post war structures, it was fascinating to see what was left after the war.  One can imaging how could any living creatures survived those times when even hiding below big guns protected by thick metal armor located in a sunken part of the mountain were not spared by bombs and bullets from the enemy plane. you can see visibly how those bullets scarred thick guns and its armor.

The Island is more than an hour away from Naic, Cavite (our jump off point)  by motor boat. Although Bataan is closer and more visible than Cavite, Corrigidor Island is surprisingly part of Cavite Province.
