The Principal Part 2

NGIS, in terms of facilities has an edge over other schools, all rooms have airconditioning and with standard sizes. Library is big enough for the population of the school, toilets are available in every building , area for playground is spacious.

On Academic programs, Mr. Guy is proud to say that, They could be at par with other big schools since they could even join in local, regional and even national academic contest and won some place.

Their co-curricular activities are being implemented at least 2 hrs per week, sports club was organized, NGIS is promoting the indigeneous games such as patentero, sipa and others.

He recited the NGIS vision to promote moral and academic excellence in pursuit of wholistic development of man building of ideal family and responsible stewardship of creation. He then elaborated that teacher and student relationship in the campus is likened to a parent and child relationship. Despite that, they alway keep non-sectarian policy and respect every religion and belief that exist.

Just this year, high school students climbed Pico de Loro to appreciate the granduer of its mountain the beauty of the rainforest, the different creatures that lived in the wild. This experience teaches awareness that there are other creatures to love and to care.

Mr. Guy proudly mentioned that NGIS is a "school of Heart" and students are envisioned to become responsible individuals with the heart and this is the guiding principle why the "culture of giving" is emphasized and practiced especially every christmas that instead of just giving gift among themselves, students go out in the community to share a heart of gift to poor children in the city. He explained further that even though students are intellectually competent, but without heart, future is not assured to be hopeful.

Mr. Guy reminded me that NGIS is a WIFI zone school, NGIS is giving importance to IT (Information Technology) for student's development.

Japanese or half Japanese, Koreans,French, Italian, Thai and Filipinos, comprises the population of the school, 15% of parents parents are foreigner.

NGIS is offering Japanese and French languages, this is to broaden the experience of every students to be exposed to a global family of man by the students mingling with each other having students from other countries.

English is being encourage despite the difficulty since Tagalog is pretty dominant. Regional accent is also acceptable.

As of this time, their are 206 students, 18 teachers and 3 administrative staff.

Summer classes are being offered with lessons of painting, piano, reading enhancement, math enhancement and martial arts as the favorite choices by the students.

When asked about the future of NGIS, Mr Guy is quick to say that he want NGIS to be the premier school in Trece Martires City.

Fees are minimal, Tuition Fees at P12,000 pesos, miscellaneous somewhere around P3,000 to P3,500, books are about P2,000 to 3,000, and is being paid by parents at cost with no additional profit for the school.

The principal is essential to the growth and developement of the teachers which in turn responsible for the growth and development of the students which in turn become the future leaders of the country. A study was conducted on why the teachers are not doing well in terms of developing their skills in teaching, the result of study leads to the conclusion that the failure of the principal is the very reason behind this sad fact.

Mr. Guy who is originally from Mindanao, is now a real Treceneo because of his contribution to the community as the principal, as an active sports organizer, as an active community service project organizer and as officer of the group of educators.
